WOA Scholarship Recipient Announced

The WOA is pleased to announce Kristanza Bronnenberg as the 2016 recipient of the WOA Pre-Optometry Scholarship.  She was also the recipient of the University of Wyoming's James A. Boucher, O.D. and Julie M. Uhlmann, Ph.D. Optometry Scholarship.

Kristanza is from Cody and recently graduated with a B.S. Physiology, Honors from the University of Wyoming.  She plans to attend Southern California College of Optometry this fall.

"For many years, I have known I wanted to have a career in health sciences because I love the study of medicine and the human body and want to positively impact the lives of others", says Kristanza.  "As I bounced from one health science profession to another, nothing seemed to fit my personality and interests the way I had hoped - until I found optometry".

She plans to return to Wyoming to practice and is excited to give back to her community.

Congratulations to Kristanza!

Avoid Meaningful Use Penalties

Avoid Meaningful Use Penalties- Apply for Hardship Exemption by July 1, 2016

Doctors who suspect they did not meet 2015 meaningful use requirements have less than a month to apply for a hardship exception—a process that takes only minutes to complete and could save doctors money.

Failure to successfully attest for 2015 meaningful use results in a 3 percent penalty on Medicare claims in 2017. The hardship exemption allows physicians to avoid this 3 percent penalty.

CMS must receive doctors' hardship exception applications by 11:59 p.m. ET, July 1, 2016.
